How do I charge a lithium battery?

TYKOOL Lithium LiFePO4 batteries perform best when charged by a LiFePO4-compatible battery charger. LiFePO4 batteries require a different charging profile and voltage requirements compared to traditional battery chargers. Chargers designed for different chemistries may work, but they may not charge a TYKOOL Lithium battery to full capacity. It’s important to select a charger that has a LiFePO4-compatible constant-current constant-voltage (CC/CV) charging profile, provides the correct charging voltage for your battery, does not exceed the charge current (amp) for the battery, and has a charge indicator LED to let you know when the battery is fully charged. If you need help finding a compatible charger for your TYKOOL Lithium battery, or if you want to check your current charger compatibility, please reach out to our support team.
What vehicles/devices are these batteries compatible with?

Our 12V lithium phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are designed to start a wide range of 12-volt systems, including:

Will this battery fit my vehicle?

Can I use my existing lead-acid battery charger?

Yes, but we recommend a LiFePO4-specific charger for optimal performance. Standard lead-acid chargers may work if they have a float mode (<14.6V). Avoid chargers with “equalization” modes, as they can damage LiFePO4 batteries.
Is Tykool battery available to use in my e-bike?

We are sorry, No. Currently we do not supply lithium type motive battery for electric vehicles like electric bikes,tricycles and cars.
Is a higher charging current safe for lithium batteries?

Yes, as long as it stays within safe limits. A charging current below 50% of the battery capacity is optimal, and any current not exceeding the battery’s rated capacity is safe. Lower current increases safety but takes longer, while higher current (within limits) reduces charging time.

Are Lithium Batteries Safe?

TYKOOL Lithium batteries are 100% safe & reliable. Our signature chemistry, Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4), does not contain rare earth elements (like Cobalt) or heavy metals, is non-toxic, including no lead or acid, is non-corrosive, does not off gas, requires no watering or maintenance, can be placed in any orientation, and unlike other lithium batteries will not explode or catch fire. In addition, each TYKOOL Lithium battery is protected from over heating, over charging, and short circuiting, by a battery management system (BMS) microchip that also extends the lifespan and is contained in a rugged, waterproof case (although enough water can conduct electricity between the terminals, so don’t submerse the battery). For best performance & reliability we recommend using a LiFePO4 charger.

I ultimately chose TYKOOL lithium batteries instead of the original lead-acid batteries. Although lithium batteries may cost twice as much as lead-acid batteries, their numerous advantages more than make up for the price difference. Lithium batteries are lighter, have a longer lifespan, charge faster, and perform better in low-temperature environments.

My 900cc motorcycle specs a larger YTX14 battery, but this small ones 240CCA exceeds the 170CCA required so I thought I'd give it a try. Lately the motorcycle has required quite a bit of cranking to get started when cold. After at least two minutes of cranking the motorcycle started and the battery still showed 13.2V and 100% charge. I do think the starter spun a bit faster with the larger battery. I recommend buying the proper size battery for your equipment, but if this Tykool battery can handle the job of a larger battery then I have no problem recommending it for the applications it is intended for.
